Education in Faith

At St Joseph’s School we promote the message of Jesus and develop children's understandings of living as a person of faith within their family, school, parish and the wider community.

We regularly celebrate together at Mass and in school based liturgies. We embrace the opportunities to gather together in our recently completed church of St Joseph’s. These opportunities for worship build a strong sense of connectedness between school and the parish.

We teach Religious Education using an inquiry approach based on the new Religious Education Curriculum Framework (developed by Catholic Education Melbourne). We incorporate a range of resources and materials to support our teaching in this area, including the To Know, Worship and Love texts (produced by the Archdiocese of Melbourne).

Religious Education at St Joseph’s aims to help students grow in relationship with God. We aim to build on the experiences of each student, enhance their opportunity for rich dialogue with others and allow them to form them own understandings and make deep connections with their faith.

Eligible students prepare for and receive the Sacrament of Penance/First Reconciliation in either Year 3 or 4, Sacrament of First Eucharist / Communion in either Year 3 or 4 and Sacrament of Confirmation in either Year 5 or Year 6.
